What Do I Do?
I just got the confirmation from my confirmation of the Charleston County recruitment event.  HERE’S MY ISSUE: (30 minute) Literacy focused model lesson plan, non-interactive (meaning Principals & Administrators will be observing you with the classroom observation tool) no children will be present in the classroom.  Principals and Administrators will not be responding to Teacher...

Tumblr Teacher Check-In
1) Student Teaching is almost over! More importantly, I have Spring Break in 7 days!  Which means I also have 7 days to get through my entire poetry unit… with another field trip next week, an early dismissal tomorrow, and all of the kids going crazy about Spring Break… Oh, and I’m having a Poetry Open House next week for my kids’ parents to be like “Our poetry is...

So That's The Hunger Games Movie? (Spoilers)
[[MORE]]It was good.  I wished they had left the muttations at the end the way they were in book.  They appeared in a completely new way. (I like how they show up in the book better.) I don’t like them essentially being a computer program, but that ties into my last point-  They’re supposed to look like the dead tributes! It’s so creepy in the books, but these were just...

By The Way
Tomorrow, while we have PASS testing, I get to sit out in the hallway… For about 4.5 hours.  Thank goodness I just started The Graveyard Book… If I finish that, I’m not sure what I’ll read next… Mysterious Benedict Society? I don’t know, I have about 20 books to read… John Dies at the End! I told my friends I would finish that… so that should...

Conversation I Had After Being Observed...
ME: Good lesson though?
CT: Ya, good lesson.
ME: Oh! Did you look over the sentence I had ____ show you?
CT: Ya, but I could barely read it. He definitely has issues writing, but he still has to take the PASS test.
ME: But did you see what he wrote?
CT: No, why?
ME: Because he wrote the "I went to the store to get some food" or whatever, "but then I had to hurry home because my dad will beat me."
CT: I didn't even see that, I couldn't make out what he had written! Is it still in his desk?! You were so nonchalant about sending him over!
10 minutes ensues of finding the student in another room, getting out his writing notebook, and making sure we photocopy it the sentence. In all fairness, DSS didn't do anything last time the child said something like this...

So That Student With Asperger's...
Told us he was going to the Special Ed teacher’s room during recess. That’s where he goes when he gets frustrated and needs to calm down, or if he needs someone to talk to and doesn’t want to talk to us, whatever.  I had told him yesterday (when he and another student both claimed the other one attacked them) that he should stay in for study hall to finish his chapter summaries...

storiesofastudentteacher: I have to teach ‘phases of the moon’ tomorrow in science, and want to do a really fun lesson using Oreos, but I can’t, because testing starts on Tuesday and we have ‘too much to get through’. Ugh. I feel your pain. PASS prep for the next few weeks in writing.

So While the SAIL Kids were gone...
Normally, the SAIL kids (I’m not sure how Gifted & Talented became SAIL) leave the room on Thursdays, which is fine.  Normally, the rest of us review the material that gets tested on Friday.  It’s an easy day and allows me to feel good that everyone is ready for their tests. This week, the SAIL kids were gone today instead of Thursday.  So, the tests had been done before they...
